Considerations Regarding ASG-TMON for MVS and ASG-TMON for Z/OS when Changing the GMT Adjustment Factor
Setting the GMT adjustment factor forward (Standard Time):
F TMVSMSTR,QU
After setting the GMT offset forward you can immediately start the TMVSMSTR address space. To start the TMVSMSTR address space issue the MVS command:
S TMVSMSTR
Automation Considerations: When TMON for MVS and TMON for z/OS are active during a local time change, they detect that the local time has been changed and suspend all logging operations. They will react to the specification of the CLOCKQUIESCE=YES|NO, CLOCKRESTART=YES|NO and CLOCKTMP= startup parameter specifications. The defaults are CLOCKQUIESCE=YES, CLOCKRESTART=NO and CLOCKTMP= unspecified.
If these parameters are allowed to use their default specifications, TMON for MVS and TMON for z/OS will automatically QUIESCE when a local time change occurs. They will not automatically restart. Please review the Startup Parameters in Appendix B of the ASG-TMON Products for z/OS – Mainframe Installation Guide” for more information and automation considerations of these parameters.
Data Considerations:
You can use the LFS and SysPlex Analyzer logs immediately without clearing them. There will be a time gap in the data for the time period the clock was set forward.
F TMVSMSTR,QU
After setting the GMT offset backward you should wait until the clock has gained the time it was set back before starting the TMVSMSTR address space. To start the TMVSMSTR address space issue the MVS command:
S TMVSMSTR

Data Considerations:
If you start the TMVSMSTR address space before the clock gains the setback time, duplicate timed log records will be written to the LFS logs. The overlapping log records may show increased statistics for a particular hour or invalid summary data when building history files.
